When Do You Ovulate
When Do You Ovulate?

Knowing the Ovulating Symptoms, and Why It Matters…
If you are having difficulty getting pregnant, it can help to know when do you ovulate and how to spot the ovulating symptoms.
This way, you can take advantage of the best time each month to conceive the boy or girl baby you are longing for.
What is Ovulation?
To figure out when do you ovulate first you need a basic understanding of what is ovulation. Each month, an ovary releases one egg (occasionally, more than one) and it enters the Fallopian tube, ready for its short (4-inch) trip to your uterus, a process called ovulation.
The time from just before ovulation to just after (usually totalling only about 3 to 4 days) is when you are most likely to get pregnant each month.
For this to happen, healthy sperm must meet up with that egg, and one of the sperm must bond with the egg. But sperm live for only two or three days, while an egg will survive for only a day after ovulation, unless a baby is started (called fertilization).
One way of getting pregnant sooner is to time intercourse with ovulation, which is possible because there are several ways to tell the signs that you are about to ovulate, or ovulating symptoms. When you can recognize these symptoms, you will be able to predict fairly accurately when it will happen next.
Can you also Avoid Pregnancy by Knowing When do you Ovulate?
Some couples have also used predicting ovulation times to attempt to avoid pregnancy; you may have heard this practice referred to as the “Rhythm Method” of family planning or birth control that is condoned by some religious leaders and in some cultures.
However, simply not having sex around the time of ovulation is considered to be among the least effective ways of protecting from an unwanted pregnancy – it is famously unreliable.
It is a myth that wanting to get pregnant makes it more likely to happen (just as not wanting to get pregnant doesn’t help avoid it).
The good news is that it is also true that humans aren’t born with an ‘instinct’ for getting pregnant. For some couples, it may seem effortless. But the truth is that for most couples, getting pregnant isn’t that fast or easy.
There ARE effective changes you can make in your life that do make you more likely to conceive, detailed in Prince or Princess, a guide written by a midwife that tells you what to do to get pregnant AND to have the girl, or boy, you are hoping for.
Here Are the Ovulation Symptoms To Look For
There are signs or symptoms that can help you figure out when do you ovulate. If your periods are regular (or fairly regular), mark a calendar with the probable first day of your next period and count back 12 days to 16 days. These are the probable days of your next ovulation.
Another method that works is to notice your cervical mucus, which changes each month as levels of the hormone estrogen increase (it will become clear, slippery and slightly stretchy).
Normally, this mucus is the natural enemy of sperm; but during ovulation it helps sperm get where they want to go, up through the uterus, into the fallopian tubes for a date with your egg.
When Do You Ovulate? When Your Body Temperature Rises…
And here is a third change in your body that can tell you when do you ovulate: your basal body temperature will rise very slightly. You aren’t likely to notice this unless you use a basal body temperature (BBT) thermometer (inexpensive and available at pharmacies or chemists’ shops).
One warning about using a BBT thermometer – by the time your temperature ‘spikes,’ ovulation has already taken place and it may already be too late for fertilization to happen. If you choose to use a BBT thermometer, keep track of your temperature for a month or two so that you will be able to predict the two days just before it is about to spike in your next cycle.
Find When Do You Ovulate By Using a Predictor Kit
Ovulation Predictor kits are widely available (at pharmacies and chemists’) without a prescription.
They can accurately predict ovulation, but usually only if you have a regular period cycle of 28 to 34 days.
These kits currently cost about $25 to $50, for 5 to 9 test strips, and are easy to use (similar to an at-home pregnancy test).
Ovulating Symptoms – Can A Woman Tell The Exact Moment of Ovulation?
Yes, some women can. Researchers say about 20% of healthy adult women feel a twinge, a mild achiness or a few hours of pain or cramps signalling ovulation.
Possibly you have felt this signal that can tell you when do you ovulate so often, you don’t even notice it.
But, since it is only about 1 in 5 woman who experience this, it really isn’t an effective aid in knowing when you are most likely to get pregnant AND the exact timing to get the baby gender you really want.
However, let me tell you about a helpful book that does exactly that.
When You Really Want A Baby Boy…Or Girl
To get a fuller picture of how your body works, and what you must do to get pregnant AND to influence the gender of your child, read mother and midwife Alicia Pennington’s guide for parents trying to get pregnant, Prince or Princess – Plan Your Baby. There is also a review of this helpful book here.
Tracking when do you ovulate and using this information to your best advantage when you are trying to get pregnant is a method Alicia’s book teaches – and she also tells you how to use this method to get pregnant AND almost guarantee (with more than 80% accuracy) you will have either the boy, or the girl you really want!
Sex positions can make a difference in how soon you will get pregnant, and there are specific sex positions to conceive baby boy – while others are more likely to help you get pregnant with a girl.
While most sex positions can result in pregnancy, it helps (and can speed up the process) when you know the sex positions to conceive baby that are most likely to be successful.
Possibly, that’s the problem. In addition to the baby-making stress, you could be losing all the joy of intimacy. It could be that taking a break from trying to get pregnant would be good for both of you.
Every present and future mother needs a healthy and balanced diet (which you get with the two eating plans mentioned above) to boost her health and vitality while also making sure she doesn’t gain a lot of baby fat during pregnancy.
In order to have a girl, you need to focus on foods that will boost acidity in your body just before and during ovulation until sperm and egg unite. They include foods that are rich in magnesium and calcium. Broccoli is the perfect example of a food that contains high levels of both.

It is important to use a position that will allow for deep penetration and the man must orgasm as closely to the neck of the cervix as possible. The best position for this is woman on top.
Knowing you’re fully prepared for parenthood can reduce some of your stress now, and for some couples, reducing stress is (almost) all it takes for them to find they are pregnant.
