Many couples ask what are the best positions to get pregnant, with a boy or a girl.

Experts say that it is possible for most couples to get pregnant using any sexual position between a man and a woman, provided both are healthy and it is the right time of month for ovulation.

While there is no natural method that will absolutely guarantee that you will get pregnant – or that, when you do, it can only be with a boy, or with a girl if that is what you are trying for, there ARE positions that make pregnancy more likely. There are also some positions that making having a boy more likely when you do get pregnant; while others are more likely to start a girl.

Any egg produced by the mother could become either a girl or boy fetus (the baby before birth). This is because the gender of your child is determined by the man’s sperm. Basically, there are two types – sperm carrying the Y chromosome will conceive a boy.

The sperm that carry this chromosome are small, quick and able to cover the distance to the egg very rapidly; however, they live fast and die young. If they have to swim too far, they won’t be able to complete their journey successfully.

The X chromosome sperm are responsible for conceiving a baby girl. These sperm are much larger, and move slower. Their advantage is they live a lot longer and have more endurance when it comes to reaching the egg.

Because the Y sperm need a little extra help in reaching their destination quickly while they are still strong and healthy enough so one can unite with the egg, if you want a boy positions that allow deep penetration are essential.

The goal is to have the man orgasm as closely as possible to the top of your vagina (the neck of the cervix, just below your uterus). This reduces the amount of time that the sperm will need to spend on their journey to meet the egg.

Positions that allow for this to occur include woman on top as well, either facing the man or facing away from him. In these positions, the woman is sitting astride the man and can control how deeply he penetrates her.

At the moment of orgasm, the woman should allow the man inside as deeply as possible.

The X sperm are much more durable and need a little more time to reach the egg, allowing the Y sperm to die off before they get there. This means that the man should orgasm as far away from the neck of the cervix as possible.

Positions for shallow penetration include missionary or traditional (man on top), spooning and the lotus position where the couple wrap their legs around each other while sitting or while the man is standing.

These positions don’t allow for deep penetration, so a pregnancy started this way is more likely to be with a girl baby.

If you do want to have a boy, it is important that the woman orgasm before the man. This changes the PH near the cervix, making it more hospitable to the Y sperm.

The opposite is true if you want to conceive a girl.
